The AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate program is a full-time, nine-week summer program that allows individuals the opportunity to provide direct service support to select community partners.
Examples of service include:
- Helping to close the gap on summer learning loss
- Distributing food to struggling children and families
- Recruiting, training, and coordinating community-based volunteers
- General capacity building
Applications for both community partners and individuals interested in the Summer Associate program will open in early 2023.

Additional Information
- Be 18 years or older
- Hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status), and persons legally residing within a state.
- Examples of persons legally residing within a state may include those holding the following classifications: refugee, asylee, temporary protected status throughout VISTA service, and holding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status.
- Members must complete and pass a series of national service criminal history checks.
- The VISTA Summer Associate program will run from May 30, 2022 ā July 29, 2022.
- Members will be expected to serve full-time, in-person for the duration of their service term.
- Members will be required to secure their own housing and have reliable transportation to and from service each day.
- Members that are also current students at Wake Forest are eligible for on-campus, summer housing, and need-based assistance.
AmeriCorps members serving as VISTA Summer Associates are eligible to receive:
- Living allowance
- End-of-service summer award
- Reduction of education costs
- Limited leave
- On-site professional development
