The Summer Nonprofit Immersion Program (SNIP), in partnership with the WFU AmeriCorps program is a full-time, eight-week summer program that allows individuals the opportunity to provide direct service and capacity building support to select community partners, also known as host sites.
Examples of service include:
- Helping to close the gap in summer learning loss
- Distributing food to struggling children and families
- Recruiting, training, and coordinating community-based volunteers
- Work to improve health knowledge and access to medical care for low-income individuals and families
- Conduct health outreach and education
- Receive weekly professional development opportunities
Applications for host sites open annually in December/January and individuals interested in participating in the SNIP program as AmeriCorps Volunteers can apply on a rolling basis from January to March each year.

- To participate in SNIP:
- Participants must be 18 years or older.
- To participate as an AmeriCorps Volunteer:
- Participants must be 18 years or older and a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
- The Summer Nonprofit Immersion Program runs from June 1st to July 31st.
- Volunteers will be expected to serve full-time, in person throughout their internship.
- Housing & Transportation:
- Volunteers not wishing to utilize University housing will be required to secure their off-campus housing.
- Volunteers who are also current students at Wake Forest are eligible for need-based assistance with on-campus housing.
- Volunteers will need to have access to reliable transportation throughout their internship (current WFU students can utilize the OCCE vans).
- Volunteers will receive a stipend for their time and service. Stipends will be split across two equal payments and issued in June and July, respectively.
