Social Justice Incubator
TThe Social Justice Incubator (SJI) is a welcoming space where students can connect, learn, collaborate, and explore ideas related to social justice. Located in Kitchin Hall, SJI is open to students of all identities and backgrounds who are interested in building community and creating a more just and equitable world.
SJI is a place to explore ideas, connect with others, and turn conversations into action. Students can use the space to discuss local, national, and global issues; explore questions of identity, equity, and justice; organize for social change; host speakers, panels, and events; and build communities around issues they care about.
Have an idea, a question, or a cause you care about? SJI is a place to bring people together, explore what’s possible, and make it happen.

The Space
Looking for a space to connect, learn, and take action?
You don’t have to be part of a specific organization to use the Social Justice Incubator (SJI). The lounge is a welcoming space for students and campus partners to gather, explore ideas, build community, and take action around issues of identity, equity, and justice.
Whether you’re hosting an event, meeting with friends, working on a project, or just looking for a place to study, you’re welcome to use the space when your activity aligns with the mission of SJI.
Use the SJI Lounge to:
- Build community — Gather, connect, and support one another.
- Talk it out — Discuss national, local, and campus issues and engage across different perspectives.
- Create dialogue — Form groups to explore questions of identity, belonging, equity, and justice.
- Bring people together — Host speakers, panels, workshops, and other events.
- Turn ideas into action — Organize campaigns, actions, and projects while developing new ideas.
- Share knowledge — Help the campus community learn more about social justice issues and movements.
- Get creative — Screen documentaries, start a reading group, make art, or experiment with new ways of engaging others.
