Wake Forest’s Reagan Smith honored for service to campus and community

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Wake Forest University student Reagan Smith (’26) has been selected for an award recognizing outstanding leadership and service by North Carolina Campus Engagement, a statewide network of colleges and universities committed to preparing students for civic and social responsibility. Smith is a recipient of the network’s Community Impact Student Award (CISA), which honors one student leader at each participating member school. The CISA recognizes students with a deep commitment to community involvement, an outstanding ability to inspire peers, and evidence of sustainable impact. NC Campus Engagement honored the recipients during the 2025 Citizenship, Service, Networking & Partnerships (CSNAP) Student Conference on November 8 at NC A&T State University.
Smith is a senior majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. As an AmeriCorps member, she volunteered over 900 hours with Cancer Services, where she connected patients to doctors and resources, developed bilingual outreach materials, and coordinated events to build community for patients and families. Smith became the inaugural Public Health AmeriCorps Student Director and continues to contribute to the program.
Smith also supported the Wake Forest University community through the Office of Civic & Community Engagement as a Pre-Orientation Director. In this role, she supported new students to begin their Wake Forest experience with service by engaging with local nonprofits. Other contributions include serving as medical intern in Spain, virtual tutor, and medical interpreter with the Shalom Project.
Smith’s nominator spoke highly of her service, saying, “Her leadership is inspiring and has deepened the ethos of civic and community engagement on campus.”
