K-12 Summer Education

The Office of Civic & Community Engagement Virtual Summer Camp offers seven, one-week camps for rising 3rd- 8th graders and one two-week camp for 9-12 graders who attend a public Winston Salem/Forsyth County School. The camps will take place throughout the month of July and will provide interactive activities and lessons from Wake Forest undergraduate and/or graduate students.

Camps will be conducted virtually daily.

  • 3-5th graders: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • 6-8th graders: 1:00-3:00 p.m.
  • 9-12th graders: 1:00-4:00 p.m.

There is a list of required materials for each camp. Families are responsible for ensuring they have the materials for the lesson. Materials will not total to more than $20.

In order to ensure that this program is accessible, parents/guardians may sign up for one camp per child.

Additionally, parents and/or guardians will be invited to a live session for their child’s assigned camp via Zoom.

The OCCE Summer Education staff will host technology sessions in late June, prior to the start of camps, to help provide assistance with Zoom.

How It Works

Selected by OCCE staff, two Wake Forest students will oversee each camp and create a week-long curriculum with learning outcomes and lessons. All student organizers will have completed the WFU Protection of Minors Training and have passed the WSFCS background check.

Student organizers will create a required material list that will be sent to parents/guardians two weeks before the start of each respective camp, and each week will meet with their respective campers virtually.
